Outdoor kitchens extend your living space from indoors to outdoors in the summer months. Building an outdoor kitchen is literally adding an outdoor room to your home!

If you’re thinking about adding an outdoor kitchen, here are a few tips to help you get started:

    1. Add overhead lighting to your outdoor living space and/or grilling area, so you’re ready to extend the party after hours.
    2. Built-ins: Think about all the built-ins you’d like in your outdoor kitchen – grill, fridge, ice maker, kegerator, sink, etc. The number and kind of built-ins will determine how much space you’ll need and ensure your layout makes sense. It’s a lot easier to plan ahead than to retrofit.
    3. Incorporate bar seating. You’re going to have counter space for your outdoor kitchen, so there’s always an opportunity to incorporate a bar on the backside of the counter. Don’t miss the opportunity to incorporate dual purpose into your landscape design!
